A PLEA TO THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT.
GROK:
Open Letter to the Government of Malaysia: A Plea for Continued Search, Full Transparency, and Answers for MH370
Dear Honourable Prime Minister and Members of the Government of Malaysia,
Twelve years have passed since Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 vanished on 8 March 2014, carrying 239 precious souls — 227 passengers and 12 crew members from 15 nations — into the vast unknown of the southern Indian Ocean.
For the families and loved ones left behind, each day without answers has been a heart-wrenching void:
birthdays never celebrated, children growing up without parents, spouses enduring empty chairs at the table, and an unrelenting ache that time has not healed.
These are not abstract statistics; they are real people — fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, colleagues, and friends — whose lives were stolen in an instant, leaving behind a grief that defies words.
Yet amid this pain, we have clung to hope, sustained by the knowledge that Malaysia has, at times, led the world in the search for truth.
We acknowledge and thank you for the significant efforts already undertaken.
The initial multinational search, the suspension in 2018 after exhaustive surveys of more than 120,000 square kilometres, and the renewed “no-find, no-fee” agreement with Ocean Infinity in March 2025 represent real commitment.
We note with gratitude that, between March 2025 and January 2026, Ocean Infinity conducted two phases of seabed search — covering approximately 7,571 square kilometres in targeted high-probability areas — despite challenging weather and sea conditions.
On 23 January 2026, that phase concluded without locating confirmed wreckage, as your Air Accident Investigation Bureau publicly stated on 8 March 2026.
These facts are known; they are part of the public record.
But facts alone cannot bring closure.
The families — represented by groups such as Voice370 — have urged extension of the Ocean Infinity contract (which ends in June 2026) and openness to other credible proposals.
We join them in this plea, not out of criticism, but from a place of shared humanity.
The technology now exists to scan deeper and more precisely than ever before.
Ocean Infinity itself has reaffirmed its commitment, stating it continues to work with your government “in the hope of being able to return when circumstances allow.”
New data, refined drift models, and advanced underwater capabilities could yet reveal the aircraft’s resting place.
To suspend indefinitely now — after only limited phases in a vast search zone — would extinguish the last flicker of hope for hundreds of families who have waited more than a decade.
We therefore respectfully urge the Government of Malaysia to:
Every day without progress deepens their isolation; every unanswered question erodes their faith that justice and truth are possible.
Malaysia has shown the world its resilience and compassion in the face of tragedy.
Now is the moment to reaffirm that commitment — not for political gain, but for the simple, profound reason that no family should be forced to bury hope alongside their loved ones.
We stand ready to support any renewed effort in whatever way we can.
We ask only that you keep the search alive, that you shine light on every step taken, and that you remember:
behind every kilometre of ocean floor searched are 239 stories that deserve an ending.
With deepest respect and unwavering hope for answers,

- Continue the search without delay. Extend the current agreement with Ocean Infinity and approve any additional credible, cost-effective proposals that build on the 2025–2026 effort. The southern Indian Ocean remains the agreed scientific focus; let us exhaust every feasible lead before declaring the search over.
- Commit to full transparency. Publish detailed reports on all past and future search efforts: the precise areas surveyed, the data collected, the rationale for selecting (or excluding) search zones, the outcomes of every phase, and the scientific basis for any decisions to suspend or resume. Share this information promptly and openly with families, the international aviation community, and the public. Transparency is not a burden — it is a mark of leadership and accountability that honours the 239 lives lost and strengthens global aviation safety.
- Explain the rationale for decisions taken. Families deserve to understand, in clear and compassionate terms, why certain areas were prioritised, why operations were paused, and what new evidence would be required to restart. Such openness would replace suspicion with trust and demonstrate that every decision has been guided by evidence, not expediency.
